The Reindeer Farm in the Butte, near Palmer, is the perfect place to usher in autumn, as their Fall Family Fun Day events run through October.

Each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the farm is a hub of activity for families, and each year, it's a popular event that draws a lot of people. Kids of all ages will find something to see and do during the events. Admission is $10 for ages 3 and up. A good recommendation is to get there early, because there are so many activities you may run out of time if you arrive late in the day.

At the event, you'll find a hay maze, get reindeer tours, see bunnies and chickens, tractor-pulled wagon rides, a reindeer "train," plenty of games for kids, and a "Spooky Walk" which is a haunted house designed for kids. Pony rides are available for an additional fee, as well a pumpkin patch. The Carhartt Brothers is providing live entertainment, and there is food from Husky Burger available. The Reindeer Farm also has a professional photographer Diane Kris at the event for family fall photo opportunities.

Another tip is to purchase your tickets online, prior to arriving at the farm. That way, you won't have to wait in line. Tickets can be purchased at www.reindeerfarm.com. There are only two more family fun days remaining - Oct. 15 and Oct. 22.

In late October, the Reindeer Farm plays host to another popular event, albeit not for the small kids - the annual Haunted Hay Maze. This is a Halloween scary event, so kids younger than 10 are not encouraged to attend. The event is from Oct. 27-Oct. 29, from 7-9:30 p.m. Admission is $7 per person, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the Palmer High School music program.
