In the last two years, two new zip lines have opened up in the Mat-Su Valley - MICA Guides has a one-zip adrenaline rush near Matanuska Glacier, and Denali Zip Line Tours has a nine-zip boreal forest tour in Talkeetna.

If you haven't zip lined before, have no fear! You'd be hard pressed to find a more high-speed fun adventure around! We recently visited the course in Talkeetna, and we were not disappointed. From "ground school" to the completion of the course, we were smiling - and screaming! - the entire way.

After getting fitted with our harnesses and helmets, it was time to head out onto the course. We zipped across the tree tops, and even a lake, with views of Denali obscured by clouds unfortunately. In our group, we had one person who was scared of heights, but quickly, her love of adventure overruled that fear. She was zipping and smiling in no time, and had a great time.

The zip line itself was fantastic, but the entire day was a trip in itself. We started out with breakfast at Talkeetna Roadhouse, zipped the afternoon away, then finished with one of Denali Brewing Company's fine concoctions. Talkeetna is a great day trip for anyone - whether you are ziplining, rafting, jet boating, flightseeing or taking in one of the area's many fun activities.

A lot of these activities are still operating through September, so don't delay - take a road trip and soar to some fun times!
