Talkeetna Bachelor Auction and Ball: Support Women & Children in Crisis December 5, 2009
Times: 7pm Auction; doors open at 6:15pm; 10:30pm Ball Admission: $10 at the door
Shop for bargains at the 29th annual Talkeetna Bachelor Auction presented by the Denali Arts Council. For 28 years the Talkeetna Bachelor Society has been raising money to support women and children in crisis. The event is outrageous, spontaneous, and light hearted, but the cause is serious. Last year, the Talkeetna Bachelor Society donated $7,000 of the $11,300 raised to two funds established to help the SunshineCommunityHealthCenter provide care and services to women and children who have been victimized by domestic violence. With the remaining money we supported Sunshine Transit, the Food Bank, the Free Box, and created a scholarship for activities and athletics at Su Valley High School. Come laugh, cringe, ogle and gasp at the craziest fundraiser you’ll ever see. During the ladies only auction you will have the chance to buy one of our charming, local bachelors in support of a great cause. The night is not over then! Stick around for live music and dancing during the ball, everyone welcome. In the tradition of living theatre, you’ll be part of the show. Must be 21 or over, ID required.
