Big Lake
With 67 miles shoreline, the size of this lake is down right remarkable. It also offers a bounty of year-round recreation. Boating, fishing and jet skiing highlight summer activities. In the winter, the frozen lake allows for Alaska winter staples like snowmobiling, dog mushing and cross-country skiing. Marvel at views you can see here of Mt. Susitna, Denali and the Talkeetna mountain range. Take it easy and camp or stay the night at lakeside lodges. As you drive around Big Lake, see for yourself the amazing natural regeneration from the 1996 fire, the state's most destructive wildfire.
