McKinley
Mount McKinley, Denali - which one is it?
Mount McKinley is the official name of this peak although many Alaskans refer to the mountain as Denali (the high one), the original name given by the Athabascan Indians.
This is North America's highest peak and understandably one of Alaska's leading visitor attractions. Stunning views of Mt. McKinley can be seen on the on the Parks Highway towards Willow and Denali State Park as well as from Talkeetna. One of the best ways to see Mt. McKinley is in the air on a flightseeing trip.
Situated in the Alaska Range, Mt. McKinley is the heart of Denali National Park and Preserve. For more information on scheduled bus trips into the park, visit the National Park Service website.
