Wasilla
Nestled between two lakes, Wasilla is home to the world-famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race and Alaska's famous Governor, Sarah Palin. A hub of commerce, there's ample opportunity to stock up for your trip at a variety of national and local stores.History buffs will appreciate the area's mining history and exploring the Old Townsite Park (including Wasilla's first school house) at the Dorothy G. Page Museum. Fresh produce is available weekly at the museum's farmer's market. Check out the impressive collection of planes, trains and automobiles are housed at the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry. Take a ride on the Live Streamers train while you're there.
