Popular State Park Activities

Hiking in Denali State Park - Kesugi Ridge and Curry Ridge are two favorite hikes in Denali State Park, offering amazing views of Denali and the Alaska Range.

Explore Kesugi Ken Campground - whether you are camping or just out for a stroll, the newest Alaska State Park is also the most amazing. Don't miss this stop in Denali State Park.

Come on in, the water's fine! Paddle through the Nancy Lake trail system on a canoe you can rent on site. Kayak around Byers Lake in Denali State Park. Lake Louise (off the Glenn Highway) is a premier year round hub for water activities, too.

See a glacier - Matanuska Glacier is the state's largest road-accessible glacier and the Matanuska Glacier State Recreation Area has the best views!

Public-use cabins - The Alaska State Parks offers public-use cabins that can be rented up to seven months in advance. The cabins are unfurnished, so bring your camping gear and firewood for a grand adventure.

Year Round Family Fun! Alaska State Parks are open year-round, and winter is a great time for skiing, snowshoeing or watching the northern lights. Try Independence Mine or Denali State Park when it is dark and clear skies.
