Kick it up in Hatcher Pass

Groomed cross country ski trails begin at the parking lot near Hatcher Pass Lodge and continue about 4.5 kilometers up the curvy road to Independence Mine (closed in winter). Après-ski at the Lodge or follow the pack down the mountain to find a favorite local joint. Read more

We'll Leave the Lights On

Aurora fans stay up late on clear, dark nights in February, March and April - especially during the new moon phase - for a chance to view the colorful Northern Lights. Climb aboard the Alaska Railroad Aurora Winter Train in Anchorage for an overnight escape to Talkeetna and the chance to see the lights dancing over Mount McKinley.
