Wasilla
remains, to this day, a vital retail supply center. Stock up for your
Alaskan adventure at a variety of national and local stores, restaurants,
and shopping centers. Nestled between two beautiful lakes, Wasilla
is the home of the world-famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race. Serviced by
the Alaska Railroad, Wasilla features two lakeside resorts and a variety
of motels, bed and breakfasts, cabins, chalets and vacation apartments.
For visitor information, stop by the Dorothy G. Page Museum located
on Main Street. Here, you'll learn about the area's mining history and
explore the buildings of Old Townsite Park, including Wasilla's first
school house. Fresh produce is available weekly in season at the farmer's
market. Treasures from the past may be found at the Museum of Alaska
Transportation and Industry, located off Mile 47 Parks Highway 3.
