Knik River Valley

The Knik River Valley is a scenic, secluded valley nestled up against the Chugach Mountains. This hidden gem of the Mat-Su Valley is an adventure seeker's delight, as you'll find everything you dreamed Alaska would be - wilderness, outdoor recreation opportunities, mountains, glaciers, rivers and wildlife. The Knik River Valley is located off the Old Glenn Highway, with Knik River Road providing access to trails, fishing, and spectacular views.

Knik Glacier is the closest glacier to Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, just an hour north. There are numerous ways to experience Knik Glacier, with operators providing air boat tours to the foot of the glacier, helicopter tours including dog mushing experiences, and even ATV trips.

Eklutna Tailrace provides easily accessible fishing for all species of Alaska salmon, and typically gets the earliest run of fish in the summer. It has ample parking, and you can walk right to the fishing hole with ease.

Knik River Road is a popular spot to catch a glimpse of moose, as the large animals typically hang out in the many swampy areas along the route. Bring your camera and be on the lookout!

At the end of Knik River Road is a spectacular lodge that features upscale dining, cabins and tours.
