The Mat-Su Valley have been hard at work for the past two years preparing to host the 2024 Arctic Winter Games. It's difficult to believe that the week of the Games is finally just around the corner. If you're able to visit the Valley for the Arctic Winter Games, you're in for a real treat.

The Games take place March 10-16, with events happening at sports facilities and outdoor venues all over the Mat-Su. Some of the sports included are basketball, volleyball, hockey, wrestling, as well as outdoor winter competitions like skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, and snowshoeing. That's just to name a few!

This also a unique opportunity to experience cultural events like the Dene Games, the Indigenous fashion show, and the Cultural Gala. And you can't come to an Arctic Winter Games and not walk away with some collectible pins. Teams, volunteers, administrations, public leaders and more design and produce their own unique pins to trade with other athletes and attendees at the Games. The committed collector never misses the Games and their trove of pins can be measured by the crate! Come out next week and see for your self!

It's been inspiring to see the number of community volunteers willing to give their time to ensure the success of the Arctic Winter Games. One major need has been finding accommodations for all participants and spectators. There are still many accommodation options in the heart of the Mat-Su Valley for people interested in attending the Games without having to drive too far.

It's certainly going to be a memorable week. To all the 2024 Arctic Winter Games athletes, welcome to the Mat-Su Valley and good luck in the Games!
