The Mat-Su Valley is a fertile farming region in Alaska, producing abundant root vegetables that come to market under the Alaska Grown label. Local farms provide a local source for some of the freshest vegetables you'll ever find. Many of the local restaurants use these locally grown vegetables in their menus, giving visitors a true farm-to-table experience unrivaled in other areas.
On July 26, the Mat-Su Farm Bureau is giving people the opportunity to see these farms up close and personal with the annual Mat-Su Farm Tour. For just $55, visitors get to tour four local farms, enjoy an Alaska Grown lunch, and have someone else do all the driving. It's a great opportunity to not only get out and enjoy the amazing scenery, but also to see how those vegetables in the grocery store go from seed to table.
If you are interested in joining the farm tour this year, there is still limited availability. You can hop on the farm tour by calling the Mat-Su Farm Bureau at (907) 761-3858.
