You know the holidays are right around the corner when craft fairs and bazaars highlight the calendar, and this weekend, one of the most popular is back for its second weekend.
The annual Alaska State Fair Holiday Bazaar began last weekend and continues through this weekend, with more than 100 local vendors offering everything from clothing, art, knives, jewelry, glasswork, quilts, antiques, food products, furniture, woodwork and books. It's a great way to support local artisans and businesses and get a jump on your holiday shopping. There also will be a wide range of food trucks outside Raven Hall, ranging from tacos to barbecue.
Admission is free, however, there is limited capacity due to Covid protocols. Attendees must register at https://www.alaskastatefair.org/site/holiday-bazaar-2021/ to reserve a time slot, and then show up during that reserved time for admittance.
The fair's bazaar runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
In November, the extremely popular Alaska Vintage Market takes place over two weekends at the Alaska State Fair in Raven Hall and the Hoskins Building. The show boasts "some of Alaska's trendiest small businesses, up-cyclers, designers, and vintage collectors." There also will be food trucks throughout the two weekends.
The dates for the Vintage Market are Nov. 19-21 and Nov. 26-28.
