This weekend in Palmer, Kasey's with a K who are a woman - and all other women, for that matter - have a great event planned. For the fourth year in a row, "Who Let The Girls Out" takes over downtown Palmer for a weekend jam packed with activities, including a women's only 5K run, wine tasting, book signings and much, much more. There's a popular mother/daughter lookalike contest, sponsored by the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman, live music throughout the weekend, and even some yoga demonstrations. If you are a woman, there's really no reason not to be in Palmer this weekend - there's virtually something for everyone.
Even if you aren't participating in one of the many events scheduled, it's still a great time to visit downtown. Stop by Fireside Books for a good read, or stop in at Nonessentials for some culinary items you didn't even know you needed. The many small shops in Palmer are a great way to buy local, support your community and spend an afternoon.
It isn't all just about fun and games, though. There's a mobile mammography unit at the Palmer Depot as well. And even though I'm Casey with a C who is a guy, my family has been impacted by breast cancer in the past, so I encourage all the ladies to take a minute from the fun and festivities in downtown Palmer to do something that could potentially save a life.
While the girls get out and have a ton of fun, Casey's with a C who are guys have one consolation - we probably won't be asked to take out the trash once this weekend, as all of our girls will be whooping it up in Palmer!
