Denali experiences in the Mat-Su Valley

Denali, standing 10,310 feet, is a sight to behold, and the best views - and related experiences - are located in the Mat-Su Valley, a region just north of Anchorage that extends all the way to Denali National Park & Preserve.

The town of Talkeetna is the place to be for Alaska-sized Denali experiences. Flightseeing trips depart daily and fly into the Alaska Range and around Denali, with many of them landing on a glacier at base camp where the climbers begin their ascents. Or opt for a jetboat trip up the Talkeetna River, with views of the mountain. Guided hiking, ziplining and scenic rafting are other ways to enjoy a Denali experience while while visiting the Mat-Su Valley.

Further north, don't miss Denali State Park, which has even better views than the national park. Kesugi Ken Campground at Mile 133.5 Parks Highway has short, maintained walking trails with amazing viewing areas. Kayak or hike around Byers Lake for a wilderness experience in the shadow of Denali.

For accommodations, Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge has a large viewing deck and is just a mile from downtown Talkeetna. Luxury cabins, bed and breakfasts and small lodges will make your stay memorable.
