Musk Ox Farm

The Musk Ox Farm is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the gentle and sustainable husbandry of musk oxen and education. This Ice Age mammal, who once roamed the earth alongside saber-tooth tigers and woolly mammoths, produces an annual undercoat of qiviut (kiv'-ee-ute), one of the softest and warmest wools in the world. Every spring we gently hand-comb the shedding qiviut fiber to make some of the most luxurious yarns and garments available.

We welcome visitors to learn about these Paleolithic ruminants with guided tours, engaging exhibits in our new museum, a gift shop featuring some of the world's only gently hand-combed qiviut fiber, qiviut yarn, and qiviut garments. We also host concerts, a fun run, community fundraising events and educational programming throughout the year.

Visit our picturesque farm surrounded by the majestic Chugach and Talkeetna mountains! Our historic 1930s-era Colony farm is located just 45 miles north of Anchorage in the Mat Su, the heart of Alaskan agriculture. We are open year-round! To learn more and book your visit, head to muskoxfarm.org/visit. Large parking area for any sized rig.
