You’ll never again forget the details from your favorite Southcentral Alaska hikes, thanks to a new log book published recently by Anchorage’s Andrea Leydon.

Leydon just released “Southcentral Alaska 100 Hikes Challenge Logbook” which includes popular trails around Southcentral, including the Mat-Su Valley. Included in the book is a checklist of every hike, but what makes it unique is the format. There are sections for hikers to write their own experiences.

“It’s a way to motivate people to get outside, and get outside their own community,” Leydon said.

The hikes are organized by area, and includes maps so people know where to go. There are sections with prompts to write in things like duration, the weather, any wildlife sightings and the views, for example.

“It’s kind of in between a blank hiking journal and a full-on hiking guide,” Leydon explained. “Some of the trails are very easy half-mile hikes, and it goes all the way to multi-day trips like Resurrection Pass. From easy to difficult.”

The logbook covers the entire Southcentral Alaska region, including very popular trails and ones people may not be familiar with. Leydon said she has received tips to start an Interior logbook as well. Leydon is an Alaska travel and adventure blogger (find her inspiring Instagram account here) who has worked writing trail guides in the past.

Right now, the logbook is only available on Amazon, but Leydon is working to have it available locally at several shops. The paperback book is $8.99. You can find more information at Leydon's web site HERE.
