This spring, you could win just by getting out and enjoying the outdoors in the Mat-Su Valley.

The Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation is encouraging people to get out and enjoy the great outdoors by hosting a photo contest that continues through May. All you have to do to enter is submit a photo of you enjoying an outdoor winter activity in the Mat-Su Valley. Participants are entered to win one of many great prizes, including an overnight stay at Knik River Lodge, gift cards to local restaurants and gift certificates to local merchants.

Many people opt to stay inside during Alaska’s long winters, and with social distancing measures due to Covid-19, many people are finding themselves spending lots of time at home. Staying home can lead to decreased physical activity and mental health and increased screen time or unhealthy behaviors. The Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation wants to promote outdoor activity and get people to enjoy the many recreation opportunities available in the Mat-Su during March, April, and May.

Get out and go downhill skiing at Skeetawk, or grab the cross-country skis and head to Government Peak. Take a walk on the Settlers Bay Coastal Park or head to Hatcher Pass for some sledding and outdoor fun - the possibilities are endless!

Photos must be submitted via e-mail or Facebook Messenger. For complete details, see the Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation web site HERE. Get out and enjoy the spring in the Mat-Su Valley!
