One of the surest signs that summer is finally here is the announcement that Settlers Bay Golf Course and Palmer Golf Course are both open for play.

Settlers Bay Golf Course, 10 miles north of Wasilla, boasts "Alaska's best putting greens" and opens all 18 holes for play this weekend. There are no temporary greens, but your are restricted to the cart path until things firm up. Settlers Bay is a par 71, 6,450-yard course that has spectacular views of the Chugach Mountains. It's located in the Settlers Bay neighborhood. After your round of golf, check out the Settlers Bay Coastal Park, a trail system that is nearby.

Palmer Golf Course also has all 18 holes open for play already, but is not allowing motorized carts just yet. The links-style layout is a 7,300-yard par 72 championship course and has great views of Pioneer Peak, the Matanuska River and the Knik Glacier.

Both courses have pro shops and host tournaments all summer long. They also offer lessons and junior golf sessions.

Dust off those clubs and get ready to golf under the Midnight Sun!
