The airport in Talkeetna has a new look, thanks to the completion of a new building for K2 Aviation.

The building is elegantly constructed and has a lodge-like feel to it. It gives customers a new experience, even before they board a K2 flight to fly around Denali and the Alaska Range.

The new K2 building was designed by Mat-Su architect Gary Wolf to create a welcoming place for visitors before and after flights. The thoughtfully designed work environment also allows the K2 team to do their jobs with ease. With its new lodge-look, timber-framed lobby, and large patio, the new office is specifically designed for flight-following and customer experience in mind.

Visitors will now enjoy a seamless check-in, a comfortable waiting area with fireplace and a new theater room, where a full wall screen shows them what to expect on their flights. The new K2 building is simply a wonderful new addition to the historic town of Talkeetna.

If you haven't been to Talkeetna recently, make sure you take a weekend trip. In December, it's a great time to visit as the Wilderness Woman competition takes place Dec. 7, along with the Talkeetna Bachelor Society auction that evening. On Dec. 14, the Taste of Talkeetna event includes stops at seven different restaurants as you eat your way through town.
