The sun is returning and the temperatures may be easing, but there is still time to get some sweet runs in at the Valley's favorite recreational ski areas!
Skeetawk, the first triple-chair lift ski area in the Mat-Su Valley, is open through April 21 for the season, giving skiers and snowboarders two more weekends of fun before closing for the season. Nordic skiers and fat tire bikers can still find excellent ski conditions at Government Peak Recreation Area and probably will for the next several weekends if temperatures remain near freezing. If venturing into the backcountry, skiers and snowboarders are urged to take extreme caution with avalanche danger in the Hatcher Pass area.
On March 28, Revel Treks & Tours partners up with Mat-Su Trails and Parks Foundation and the Mat-Su Ski Club to host the Moose Range Ski Social from 1:30-3:30 p.m. This is part of their Winter Sampler Series that is making winter recreation more accessible for people throughout the community.
Also, from March 28 through April 1, Skeetawk hosts Spirit Week. Each day is a new dress up theme and anyone arriving in full costume receives 10% off their lift ticket for the day!
Grab your skis and make the most out of these final snowy weekends!
