The Race starts the first Saturday in March every year in downtown Anchorage, with the Re-Start the following Sunday in Willow on Willow Lake. Mushers will leave the starting line in two-minute intervals beginning at 2 p.m. It is the last time they are on the road system as they make their 1,000-mile trip to Nome.
